About

Who is Tenali Rama? What is Tenali Rama Reports?

Well, according to legend, Tenali Rama was a court poet of the Vijayanagara empire in the 16th century. But this Tenali Rama has only one thing in common with the one who lived 500 years ago. And that’s his wit and humour.

`Tenali Rama Reports’ is the work of Tenali Rama as a journalist. And he is a reporter with a difference. He looks at the world events differently and gives his own, part fact, part fictional take.

In short, `Tenali Rama Reports’ is a news satire and humour website that publishes fictional news reports. They are of course, written in journalistic language and readers are advised not to assume they are 100 per cent fact.

At the same time, Tenali Rama’s reports are grounded in some facts, and are not all imaginary or fantasy stuff. This means public figures and real events may be referred to in Tenali Rama’s news reports, but the ‘quotes’ attributed to them are made up to convey humour.

The intention of `Tenali Rama Reports’ is not to make fun of anyone in particular. It does not intend to hurt anyone’s feelings. The idea is also not to spread rumours. As one of our early readers put it, it is meant to be a stress-buster. It is an attempt at clean humour, to show how certain news events could have taken place in a very different and funny and perhaps absurd manner.

Please note that the contents of this website are only meant for those older than 13 years. Readers who are very sensitive and cannot tolerate any potshots at anyone, are advised to skip this website. But then this is also a family website. Tenali Rama’s humour, he assures, will not be obscene or crude and can be shared with the entire family.

The proprietors of this website also want to clarify that there is no attempt, whatsoever, to denigrate the name of Tenali Rama. The court poet is the foremost name, along with Birbal, when one thinks of witty people. Hence the name.

We would also like to thank Ajit Narayan for creating Tenali Rama for us.
