Chiranjeevi is chaala thrilled about new role

Hyderabad : Actor-turned-politician K Chiranjeevi, who is now a Rajya Sabha MP, says things can only get better from here on for the Congress. In an interview to Tenali Rama Reports, Chiraneevi says the only issue he has with being a RS MP, is the tag of `elder’. “I am young forever,” he said.

Tenali Rama : Congratulations on becoming a Rajya Sabha MP. Does it feel any different?

Chiranjeevi : Chaala thrilling ga undi. Exciting. I am now an Elder in the House, they say. I do not like that tag because I consider myself 25-year-old forever. Now no one will offer me hero roles.

TR : The Rajya Sabha will be new for you

Chiranjeevi : Oh yes yes. Chaala thrilling ga undi. Exciting. Every new role excites me. This will be like an outside production. The Andhra Pradesh assembly was like a home production (laughs)

TR : What kind of issues do you plan to raise in Delhi?

Chiranjeevi : This is a new role. It is like giving the first shot of a new film. It is a, what do you say, yes, chaala thrilling feeling. But frankly, I have been too busy preparing for Ram Charan’s wedding.

TR : Oh yes, of course. Congratulations to you. So the family is all set to receive your daughter-in-law?

Chiranjeevi : Oh yes, chaala thrilling ga undi. I love Apollo Hospitals.

TR : Charan is also acting in remake of `Zanjeer’. How do you find this move of his career in a film, that launched Amitabh Bachchan in Bollywood?

Chiranjeevi : Chaala thrilling ga undi. I still remember Amitji’s dialogue from `Zanjeer’ that do not sit till you are asked to sit. What a philosophy. I also sit only when I am offered a seat. Like Rajya Sabha seat.

TR : Talking about political issues, the Congress is at its wits’ end, grappling with the Jagan challenge. Your party did not win a single byelection.

Chiranjeevi : Do not worry. In the last reel, the hero will win. You have seen my films, haven’t you?

TR : But that is in films. How will you do an Indra or a Tagore in real life in politics?

Chiranjeevi : Oh wow. Indra, Tagore. What thrilling films they were.

TR : What strategy do you have to defeat Jagan?

Chiranjeevi : Vayalar Ravi ji came to my home for breakfast. He loved Andhra food. I treated him to Chiranjeevi dosa. We are confident.

TR : Confident of what?

Chiranjeevi : We will have Jagan for breakfast.

TR : What is your take on the liquor syndicate?

Chiranjeevi : It is very bad to do corruption in liquor.

TR : You are talking a like a typical politician

Chiranjeevi : (laughs heartily) You know, my directors always complimented me for being a fast learner. I used to feel excited to hear that. Very thrilling.

TR : What are your plans now?

Chiranjeevi : I am reading a couple of scripts for my 150th film. Now as Rajya Sabha MP, the responsibility to make a good film has increased.
