New Delhi : Tihar Jail authorities have rung the alarm bells in a confidential note sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs. They have warned of the possibility of a revolt by high-profile inmates inside Tihar if Amar Singh alone was shifted to AIIMS. The former Samajwadi party MP, an accused in the cash-for-votes scam, was admitted to AIIMS on Monday night following rise in keratin levels in his body.
Doctors at AIIMS confirmed to Tenali Rama that the first thing, Amar Singh, known for his tiffs with Shahrukh Khan, said on arriving at the hospital was : “It is all about Being Human.”
The jail staff reportedly had a tough time shifting Amar Singh from his cell to the ambulance, with Suresh Kalmadi leading the group of VIP undertrials who protested against the preferential treatment to the latest entrant to Tihar. Insiders told Tenali Rama that Andimuthu Raja and Shahid Balwa blocked the door while Kalmadi and Lalit Bhanot tried to cajole the jail staff to smuggle them too out of Tihar in the same ambulance.
“Kisiko bhi I will not tell, Mother promise. I will tell them I do not remember anything that happened tonight,” said Kalmadi.
According to sources, Kalmadi and Bhanot explained in detail how urine and blood samples are the easiest thing to fudge. “Yeh jugaad to mere baanye haath ka khel hai ji. You know left-handed,” boasted Bhanot. He is reported to have begged the jailor to shift him to AIIMS for at least two days. Bhanot, who created a controversy during the CWG with his remark that “Westerners have different standards of cleanliness compared to Indians” said “Main yahan Tihar ke toilet se tang aa gaya hoon. Mera hygiene ka standard itna bhi low nahi hai.”
Raja also reportedly complained of Delhi belly and stones in his gall bladder after eating the idly-dosa at the Tihar canteen. Kalmadi told the jail doctor that he got chicken pox when he was nine years old, and whether he can get a certificate that he has suffered a relapse.
“Chicken pox se yaad aaya, the hotel opposite AIIMS, serves very good butter chicken,” butted in Bhanot.
Tihar authorities have mentioned in the note that while they managed to quell the wave of anger on Monday night, if Amar Singh manages to extend his stay at hospital, it will be difficult to control Kalmadi and gang. A jailbreak is however, ruled out as it is quite likely that Kalmadi, once out of Tihar, will forget why he got out in the first place.
